Swing Dance Montreal
Swing Dance Montreal serves as a prominent dance event organizer within the Montreal swing dance scene. Through this website, collaboration is fostered among swing dance schools and local bands, contributing to the dissemination of information about upcoming events within the community, emphasizing the principles of simplicity and collaboration.

Problem
In Montreal, both swing dancers and organizers face challenges in tracking dance events due to the absence of a centralized platform for event advertisements. Existing applications with event notifications often include irrelevant information or have complex navigation, causing frustration among dancers and missed opportunities to attend events in the city. Additionally, organizers also find it difficult to keep track of events, leading to overlaps and potential scheduling conflicts.
Solution
To tackle the challenges faced by Montreal's swing dance community, we propose creating a dedicated Montreal Swing Dance Events website. This platform will serve as a central hub for both dancers and organizers, offering easy access to event information while allowing organizers to contribute and manage listings efficiently. The collaborative nature of the site aims to eliminate overlaps and scheduling conflicts, ensuring it remains a streamlined and up-to-date resource for the Montreal swing dance community.
Research
Competitive Research
I performed competitive research on dance event organizers, specifically swingplanit.com and nycswings.com. My primary emphasis was on nycswings.com due to its smaller scale and city-centric approach. I observed the notably streamlined design of the nycswings website, which has garnered positive feedback from multiple users in the New York City swing dance community for its simplicity and organizational effectiveness. In contrast, Swing Planit appears somewhat more disorganized, lacking filters or paging features that contribute to a simplified user experience.

With the information gathered, I created 1 personas to get a better idea of the users I we are designing for. This is what really allowed us to see what specific needs, goals, pain points, and motivations users have when it comes to searching for dance events that fit their specific needs.
Site Map & User Flows
A site map provided a structured overview, highlighting essential components and their relationships. This visual guide was crucial in focusing on must-have elements, serving as a strategic foundation. User flows, outlining step-by-step journeys, refined the user experience, ensuring logical navigation. Concentrating on must-haves, these flows guided the creation of a purposeful journey, aligning with the identified needs of dancers and event organizers.
